First Beat Midwives has been established to allow all Perth women access to an antenatal and postnatal continuity of care model, enabling greater flexibility and choice around the pregnancy and postnatal period.


​I began my midwifery practice in the U.K in 1997 working in a big tertiary hospital gaining invaluable experience but always felt that I needed more. I married in 1998, moved house and started working in a much smaller hospital and once I had had the last of my 3 beautiful children in 2003 I had the opportunity to work in a stand alone birth centre providing continuity of care and realised this is what my professional career had been missing and I have never looked back.


As a family of 5 we moved to Perth, Australia in 2012 where I worked in the Family Birth Centre at King Edward Memorial Hospital until 2016 providing continuity of care and an on-call service to 40 women per year. Since then I have worked as an agency midwife whilst embarking on professional qualifications enabling me to work as an endorsed midwife.
